So, what a day. Saw some pretty awesome games and I saw a murder. So I’m going to put this out there, I’m way more of a fan for the Xbox than for the Playstation. However, Sony laid waste to any hope Microsoft had to win this console war.
Sony hit both the casual gamer and the hardcore, they even hit the fan boys.
First, Sony’s policies towards used games is HUGE. A lot of people, me included, buy mostly used games. It’s going to be difficult to argue against this because I’m usually more or less short on money. There is one thing going towards Xbox though; since every game being bought is being bought new, developers should be getting more money. Most of this goes towards the publisher, but surely some of it gets to the developer. We love games and we really should support them more. I’m not saying Microsoft’s move was justified, but it is important to buy new when we can.
Then there’s that little thing called Kingdom Hearts 3. I need not explain the significance of this.
The final nail was the price point. PS4 is $399 while Xbox One is $499. When parents are looking to buy gifts this will be the turning point when deciding between systems. If I keep this blog up I’ll probably end up with both.
Microsoft did have some things that wowed me. That reveal trailer for Halo 5 really surprised me. I honestly had no idea what game it was but I just about exploded when I saw the Chief.
Then there’s Titanfall. As a Battletech fan, I see a lot in this game that I like. I’ve actually thought about a game from the foot soldier’s point of view in a battle between mechs. I will buy this game if it turns out at least decent.
During the EA conference they revealed Battlefront 3. There was no gameplay, just a quick snap shot so… not going to rush to a fan boy conclusion. Also, Dragon Age 3. Yes.
Finally, there’s Ubisoft. I didn’t get to watch this one, but there was really no games that I’m huge about. I am interested in the Tom Clancy MMO The Division.
So I know I probably missed stuff but I’m tired. If you’re reading this, you probably already know most of this.
